Miyasaka, MD | New York CityAfter completing college, Dr. Miyasaka attended the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine.  There, he became interested in orthopedic surgery and performed research on knee ligament injuries.  Upon graduating medical school, Dr. Miyasaka returned to the East Coast for general surgery internship and orthopedic surgery residency at SUNY Stony Brook.  After successfully finishing residency, he completed a fellowship in Joint Reconstruction with Dr. Chitranjan Ranawat at Lenox Hill Hospital.  Dr. Miyasaka then furthered his orthopedic training by undergoing a fellowship in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center under the direction of Drs. Melvin Rosenwasser, Robert Strauch, Harold Dick, and Robert Carroll.

Dr. Miyasaka then joined the Musculoskeletal Institute, a large orthopedic private practice group based in Long Island.  The group disbanded shortly thereafter and Dr. Miyasaka continued in private practice in Queens as well as being on staff at Elmhurst Hospital, a level I trauma center.  At Elmhurst, he gained expertise treating complex fracture cases both operatively and nonoperatively.

In January 2007, Dr. Miyasaka joined the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center.  He speaks Japanese and is involved in the Asian Services Program at Beth Israel. 

Dr. Miyasaka is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.  He has published papers and book chapters about wrist surgery, hip and knee replacement surgery, and knee ligament injuries.
