Dr. Catherine Compito, MD
Shoulder & Elbow Surgery; Sports Medicine
Dr. Catherine A. Compito, MD, joins Beth Israel Medical Center as an Attending Orthopedic Surgeon in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Compito brings a wealth of expertise in shoulder surgery, arthroscopy and sports medicine, and care of fractures through general orthopedic surgery. She is especially interested in women’s health, the relationship between exercise and aging throughout the life cycle, and the treatment of sports-related injuries stemming from activities like skiing, running, cycling, swimming, yoga and golf.
Dr. Compito comes to Beth Israel from New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, where she served as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Prior to this position, she was in the faculty practice at Montefiore Hospital/Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM).
After receiving her medical degree from AECOM, she completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Montefiore and two fellowships: one in arthroscopy and sports medicine at Staten Island University Hospital, and a second at the Shoulder Service of New York Orthopedic Hospital, Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.
Dr. Compito is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and belongs to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Medical Society of the State of New York and the New York Society of Orthopedic Surgeons. Her articles have been published in numerous professional journals, including the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, the Journal of Shoulder Elbow Surgery and Clinical Orthopedics.
